HONORARY DOCTORATE
PhD (from the Latin honoris causa, “for the sake of honor”) is an honorary distinction awarded by a university to a distinguished individual. In France, it is awarded to foreign researchers or artists who have made outstanding contributions to science, literature, or the arts. It is one of the most prestigious honors bestowed by French institutions of higher education.
It was in this context that the President of the University of Montpellier had the honor of conferring the PhD on Friday, May 16, on Tomasz Hueckel, in recognition of his exceptional contribution to research and his ongoing commitment to Franco-American scientific collaboration, particularly with the University of Montpellier.
