DOCTOR HONORIS CAUSA

The PhD Honoris Causa (from the Latin honoris causa, "for honor") is an honorary distinction awarded by a university to an eminent personality. In France, it is awarded to foreign researchers or artists who have rendered outstanding services to science, literature or the arts. It is one of the most prestigious distinctions awarded by French higher education establishments.

It was in this context that the President of the University of Montpellier had the honor of awarding the PhD Honoris Causa on Friday May 16 to Tomasz Hueckel, in recognition of his exceptional contribution to research and his constant commitment to Franco-American scientific cooperation, in particular with the University of Montpellier.
