GEII: A Look Back at the FANUC OLYMPIADS

Participation in the 2026 FANUC Industrial Robotics Olympics

On March 11 and 12, 2026, a team consisting of Júlio Miguel Capenda, Mohamed-Yassine Mekhair, and Romain Busnoulta represented the Nîmes University Institute of Technology (IUT) at the Industrial Robotics Olympiad organized by FANUC Europe.

Over the course of these two days focused on performance and innovation, participants tackled several technical challenges involving robotic cells. The challenges included analyzing industrial requirements, programming using a teach pendant, and using Roboguide software for the most advanced exercises.

This challenging experience provided an opportunity to apply technical skills in conditions similar to those encountered in an industrial setting, while fostering adaptability and teamwork.

The team distinguished itself by reaching the finals among the many teams competing, thereby demonstrating the quality of the education provided at the IUT de Nîmes.

The event also served as an opportunity to highlight careers in industrial robotics and to spark students’ interest in these rapidly evolving fields.

This participation has been a memorable experience, providing the motivation to tackle future technical challenges and continue developing skills in the field of robotics.
