Department of Civil Engineering and Sustainable Construction
The Civil Engineering Department is one of the five departments at the Nîmes University Institute of Technology. It trains technicians who, after two years of study, will earn a University Diploma in Technology in “Civil Engineering” and go on to work in the construction industry.
This sector encompasses the building and civil engineering industries, which cover activities ranging from renovation work to the construction of major structures (buildings, bridges, dams, highways, etc.).
In the building and public works sector, structures are built right where they will be used, and the construction of each one is always a new “adventure.” They are the result of teamwork, where people remain just as important as organization and machinery. These structures are always unique, tangible products that are visible to everyone.
To enable our students to gain a well-rounded education and enter a wide range of careers in the construction field (structural work, finishing work, etc.), the faculty of the Civil Engineering Department at the Nîmes University Institute of Technology offers a program that combines both theoretical and technical aspects. Additional hands-on training is provided through two internships at companies.
