VIsite of the CCI building site

On Monday May 15, our 2nd year BUT2 students from the BEC (Bureau d'étude et Conception) course in the Civil Engineering - Sustainable Construction department had the chance to visit a construction site. These buildings, costing 12 million euros (excluding VAT) and nearly 20 million euros (including tax), have been awarded the BDO Gold label (Bâtiments Durables Occitanie) and the NoWatt label, and will house a new CCI, a campus with an amphitheater, coworking spaces and the Union pour l'Entreprise du Gard on the same site.
Thanks to clear and precise explanations from BPTEC's Aurélien DONNENWIRTH OPC, our students were able to grasp the organization of the site, as well as the detailed planning of all trades involved. Jean-Guillaume ALTEIRAC, SOGEA Vinci works manager, then explained how Vinci's low and very low carbon concretes are developed, with their implementation constraints and environmental benefits, and how architectural concrete walls are made. Finally, he gave us a short guided tour of the site in progress.
A short and intense hour for our students, but a very rewarding one. We look forward to returning for further visits, first on June 5 and then on June 26, with 2 other groups of students, enabling us to follow the progress of this major Nîmes construction site.
We would again like to thank the CCI, UPE30, SAT, the entire project management team, and in particular BPTEC, as well as SOGEA Vinci, the structural engineering company, for enabling us to make these highly enriching visits to our students' training courses.
