AMUSE: The SECNUM Platform’s Escape Game Wins an Award at the Rencontres Cybersécurité en Occitanie
On June 4, the 5th edition of the Cybersecurity Conference in Occitanie took place. During this event, Florent Bruguier (Associate Professor at the Nîmes University Institute of Technology / Montpellier Laboratory of Computer Science, Robotics, and Microelectronics (LIRMM) / University of Montpellier) and Loic Dalmasso (Engineer and Ph.D. candidate at LIRMM) presented AMUSE, an escape game designed to raise awareness of cybersecurity among students and professionals, developed as part of the Digital Security (SECNUM) platform of the National Coordination Center for Training in Microelectronics and Nanotechnologies (CNFM) in Montpellier. The goal of this innovative educational activity is to successfully open a safe by solving puzzles that reinforce basic cybersecurity concepts, such as social engineering. At the end of a day-long demonstration, AMUSE received the jury’s “favorite” award. This project is co-funded by the Occitanie region, the ERDF fund, I-site MUSE, and the National Research Agency (ANR).

45th National Educational Symposium of the GEII Departments
The entire staff of the GEII Department at the IUT of Nîmes is pleased to welcome you tothe 45thNational PedagogicalSymposiumof the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Industrial Computer Science.
The conference willbe held on May 30, 31, and June 1, 2018.
This year, the conference theme is “The Industry of the Future.” There will be three panels: one on technological systems for the industry of the future, one on cybersecurity, and one on energy and energy efficiency. These panels will feature presentations by industry representatives on the state of the art in each of these areas, as well as feedback from colleagues.
The conference is a unique venue where an exhibitor hall welcomes our industry partners and educational equipment manufacturers. They showcase their products and technological innovations to numerous specialized teachers and purchasing managers from all GEII departments in France and the overseas departments. We will, of course, be offering workshops with industry representatives who, depending on the situation, will either show you their latest products or have you participate in hands-on activities.
We hope to see many of you at this important and very enjoyable event in the life of the GEII departments in our beautiful city of Nîmes.

Unveiling of the electric tractor at the SITEVI trade show in Montpellier
Brand-new and eco-friendly, the electric tractor designed by the Vignerons Indépendants du Gard was unveiled on Tuesday, November 28, at SITEVI—the International Trade Show for Equipment and Expertise in Vine, Wine, Olive, Fruit, and Vegetable Production—at the Montpellier Exhibition Center.
This project came about thanks to an agreement between the Federation of Independent Winegrowers of Gard, the Gard Department, the École des Mines d’Alès, and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Industrial Computer Science at the IUT de Nîmes. In fact, 12 students from the DUT and the Professional Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Use of Renewable Energy have spent the past three years working primarily on the battery racks, the control unit, the charger, and the electric steering system.
A wonderful achievement that also won the first Nîmes Métropole Grand Prize for Innovation!

In the News: IUT Students Meet Thomas Pesquet!
On November 6 and 7, a few students and staff members from the Nîmes University Institute of Technology (IUT) had the opportunity to meet Thomas Pesquet during the lecture he gave at the European Parliament. Invited by Franck Proust, a Member of the European Parliament and first deputy mayor of Nîmes, they had the chance to meet the astronaut, who shared his experiences in space and answered questions from the impressed and delighted students: it was an emotional moment not only for the young people from Nîmes but also for all those who accompanied them!
