GEII department projects
Electric tractor
The electric tractor imagined by the Vignerons Indépendants du Gard was inaugurated on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at SITEVI - the International Exhibition of equipment and know-how for vine-wine, olive, fruit-vegetable production - at the Montpellier exhibition center.
This project came about thanks to an agreement between the Fédération des Vignerons Indépendants du Gard, the Gard department, the Ecole des Mines d'Alès and the Electrical Engineering and Industrial Computing department of the IUT de Nîmes. Over the past 3 years, 12 students from the DUT and the Licence professionnelle Gestion et Utilisation des Energies Renouvelables have been working on the battery racks, control box, charger and electric steering.
Electric car (PGO project) produced in cooperation with École des Mines d'Alès
The GEII department has teamed up with the Ecole des Mines d'Alès, the CFA d'Alès and car manufacturer PGO to fully develop an electrically-powered car. The vehicle was exhibited at the Paris Motor Show in October 2012.
robotics project
The GEII department works on robots (notably Sumo robots and line-following robots) and takes part in several competitions, including the IUT Robotics Tournament and the National Robot Sumo Tournament.
nano satellite Robusta
The department's students took part in France's first university satellite project. The satellite was launched into orbit in February 2012 from the Kourou space center in French Guiana.
electric karting project
This project has now been running at the IUT for several years, with students working on 2 kart chassis and developing them year after year to take part in the e-Kart challenge organized each year.
full-scale smart home
A scale 1 communicating house has been developed by the GEII department in partnership with the Civil Engineering department of the Nîmes IUT. The house has been fully automated.
