Social assistance and housing
Scholarship applications
If you are under 28 years of age on September1 of the academic year, you may be eligible for a bursary based on social criteria, subject to certain conditions.
Applications for scholarships and/or housing are made via the DSE (Dossier Social Étudiant): a single online procedure via the messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr portal , to be carried out from March 30 (2 p.m.) to May 31, 2024 for the start of the 2024-2025 academic year.
To find out if you are eligible, consult the conditions. Don' t forget to renew your application each year if you already have a grant.
Other specific aids
There are other types of assistance available, depending on the student's profile or project. Consult the Ministry of Higher Education website for a list of the different types of assistance you may be eligible for.
Housing
The CROUS offers accommodation in halls of residence or university halls of residence, for which you must apply at the same time as for grants based on social criteria.
The student rental deposit (Crous-Lokaviz scheme) has become Action Logement's Visale scheme.

Action Logement, a key player in the housing market, continues to support young people with a range of public assistance schemes. As soon as a rental or shared-rental contract is set up, young people in precarious situations can apply for the Avance Loca-Pass scheme, which immediately pays the security deposit required by the landlord.
A second form of assistance is available: Mobili-Jeune assistance (for work-study students), which reduces the rent bill and relieves future expenses linked to the house contract (water, electricity, internet, etc.).
