Social assistance and housing
Scholarship applications
If you are under 28 years of age on September1 of the academic year and meet certain income requirements, you may be eligible for a social criteria scholarship.
Applications for scholarships and/or housing are submitted via the DSE (Dossier Social Étudiant, or Student Social File): a single online procedure via the messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr portal .
To find out if you are eligible, check the conditions. Don't forget to renew your application each year if you are already a scholarship recipient.
Other specific assistance
There are other types of financial aid available depending on students' profiles or projects. Consult the list of the various types of financial aid you may be eligible for on the Ministry of Higher Education website.
Housing
The CROUS offers accommodation in university halls of residence or residences, for which you must apply at the same time as for means-tested grants.

The student rental guarantee (Crous-Lokaviz scheme) has become the Visale scheme run by Action Logement.
Visale scheme (student rental guarantee)
Action Logement, a leading player in the housing sector, continues to support young people with various public assistance programs. As soon as a rental or shared tenancy agreement is signed, young people in precarious situations can apply for the Avance Loca-Pass, which allows them to immediately pay the security deposit requested by the landlord.
A second form of assistance is available: Mobili-Jeune (for work-study students), which reduces rent payments and alleviates future costs associated with the housing contract (water, electricity, internet, etc.).

The IUT has a file of rental offers from private individuals that can be consulted on site.
